Churches in Brenchley and Matfield Parish

All Saints

High Street Brenchley
(01892) 722140

Please contact the Vicar 01892-722140 for a latest situation report on how COVID-19 is affecting our life and services here.<div>

People have worshiped at All Saints for at least 800 years. We believe that the church was built in 1233 in the "Early English" style in local sandstone, traditionally from nearby Pixot Hill. Earlier, a chapel stood on or near the site which was attached to the Parish Church of Yalding. At that time, Brenchley was just a small hamlet in a clearing (leagh) in the forest, named after the headman Braenca"”hence "Breanca's length" - which eventually became "Brenchley".<div>

We are a rural village, population c1500.

Today All Saints serves the modern world primarily through preaching and teaching the orthodox biblical 'gospel' and has a growing and lively regular congregation. Some 200 people attend our services once or twice a month or more. See our website www.allsaintsbrenchley.blogspot.com for further details.

St Luke

Maidstone Road Matfield Tonbridge
01892 890688
http://stmaryslamberhurst.org.uk

St. Luke's is an all-age community, with a traditional heart and a warm welcome.  There is a range of church traditions here and the service follow Common Worship Liturgy and Holy Communion is celebrated every Sunday.  Sunday services are at 11am on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Sundays, with an all-age service at 9.15am on the 1st Sunday of the month.

There is a traditional robed choir and a mix of musical traditions.

St. Luke's are involved in the communitiy via 'St. Luke's Links' and 'Readicall', providing visits, hospital transport, social activities and care.  There are also good links with the Over 60's who have their annual carol service in the church and the choir from Brenchley and Matfield school also attend.

There are connections with Brenchley and Matfield School (although the school is in Brenchley parish) and often the children join us from a holiday club in the Summer at the village Hall.

St. Luke's, along with other groups, organises a village fete on the green each Summer.  We are also founders and  closely involved with the community initiative 'Love Matfield'.  As part of this project we present each year  the 'Leonora Gold Community Spirit Award' to the person who the local community has voted for.

St. Luke's is a particularly popular place for weddings.

St. Luke's is part of a joint benefice with St. Mary's Lamberhurst.
